Wedding Song Upgrade of the Day: The Piano Guys take on “Pachebel’s Canon in D.” Here’s their explainer:
It’s the same 8 notes over and over and over again. The good news is, it’s easy to memorize. The bad news is you don’t know when to stop. There’s a rumor floating around that says Pachelbel either died while writing it, never finishing the cello part, or that he dated a cellist and it did NOT go well.
This arrangement is dedicated to all the cellists that have fallen asleep while playing this song…or at least wanted to fall asleep.
Ahem…all the bitter cello-malice aside, Pachelbel’s Canon in D (written in the 1600′s) has stood the test of time — celebrated as the most recognizable piece of classical music. We like to call it the “one-hit wonder of the 1600′s.”
gonna attempt this with my cello haha..
Fluid motion is captured as a floral still life in these high-speed photos by Jack Long. The artist keeps mum about his set-up but notes that these are single capture events, not constructed composites. It looks as if the blossoms are created from the impact of a falling fluid with the upward jet that forms the stem. The leaves and vase appear to be created from the upward splashes, but whether those are generated by vibration or dropping an object is unclear. See Long’s Flickr page for more. Paige Bradley created one of the most striking sculptures I’ve seen in recent times. Her masterpiece, entitled Expansion, is a beautiful woman seeking inner piece but fractured and bleeding with light.
“From the moment we are born, the world tends to have a container already built for us to fit inside: a social security number, a gender, a race, a profession,” says Bradley. “I ponder if we are more defined by the container we are in than what we are inside. Would we recognize ourselves if we could expand beyond our bodies?”
Whoa
